About
How this directory works
A free listing of UK man and van firms, organised by town, with direct numbers and no booking fees.
What we list
Man and van firms and small removal firms based in UK towns, with plain information about what each service involves and what it usually costs. You contact the firm directly using the details on its page.
Listed in the town they work from
A firm is listed under a town only if its address, or its own listing, shows it is based there. Firms that cover a town from somewhere else are shown separately, with how far away they are.
No brokers
Some man and van websites are booking platforms that pass your job to a firm and take a share of the price. We list the firms that own the vans. Booking platforms, quote networks and national booking lines are left out. A national firm with a local branch is listed, and marked as a branch.
What we do not do
- We take no commission and sell no leads. Listing is free. Premium is an optional paid plan for firms at £12 a month plus VAT. You can cancel renewal at any time and your subscription will not renew any further. It buys tools and a badge, and Premium listings appear towards the top of their town's lists.
- We do not rank or review firms. No scores and no verdicts.
- We do not copy ratings or reviews from other platforms.
Our own research
Town pages show two things we look up ourselves. What the council charges to suspend a parking bay for a removal van comes from each council's own website, and you can see when we checked on parking for removals by council. Clean air zone charges for vans come from Transport for London and each city's own scheme: see clean air zones for vans. Councils usually change their fees each April.
Insurance, licences and memberships
No licence is needed to carry a customer's goods in a van up to 3.5 tonnes, and there is no public list of man and van firms' insurance. If a firm says on its website that it has goods in transit or public liability cover, or that it belongs to a trade body, the listing tells you that the firm says so. If a firm runs vehicles that need an operator licence, or takes rubbish and so needs a waste carrier registration, the listing says what we found on the public register and when.
What the badges mean
Not yet claimed by the owner. We put the listing together from the firm's own public details and checked it on the date shown, but the owner has not been in touch yet. It says nothing good or bad about the firm. A firm claims its listing, free, from its own page.
Owner verified (paid check). The firm confirmed, on the phone number or email it already publishes, that it runs this listing and that the details were current. The badge is no longer part of Premium: one already earned stays until a year after that check, while Premium is paid, and then comes off. It is not a judgement on the work.
Insurance seen (paid check). At that check the firm's goods in transit or public liability certificate was seen, and the cover and the expiry date recorded. It is no longer part of Premium either: one already shown comes off when the certificate expires or the Owner verified badge does. It records what the certificate showed; it is not cover we provide.
Premium (paid plan). £12 a month plus VAT. You can cancel renewal at any time and your subscription will not renew any further. It pays for extra tools: enquiries by email, hourly rates and fixed prices, availability, photos of the firm's own vans, and a short note to customers. It is not a quality mark.
The paid checks do not change the order listings appear in. Premium listings appear towards the top of their town's lists, taking turns when several have Premium.
