Terms
Terms for business plans and listings
Listing on manandvan.trade is free for every UK man and van firm we list. These terms cover claiming a listing and Premium, the one paid plan, at £12 a month plus VAT. You can cancel renewal at any time and your subscription will not renew any further. You accept them with a tick box before you pay, and the date you did is kept.
Who we are
manandvan.trade is operated by ManAndVan.Trade, 7 Princes Street, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. To reach us, use the contact form or write to the address above.
Listings
A listing is free, claimed or not, and stays free. We list firms that carry customers' goods in their own vans; booking sites, brokers and networks that pass jobs on are not listed. Corrections are made without charge and a request to come off the site is honoured.
How listings are ordered
The main parameters that decide the order of listings on a town page, a service page for a town and any other list of results, in order of importance: listings with Premium paid up are shown towards the top of their town's lists, and when several in a town have Premium they take turns at the top, changing each day; then how recently each listing was last checked; then how complete it is (a phone number, a website and an address); and businesses added to the site recently are shown after the rest. On a town with no firm of its own, those based within reach are shown nearest first after any with Premium. Premium listings are marked "Premium listing". We do not promise any particular position.
Claiming a listing
Claiming is free. It lets you correct your details, see your monthly figures and buy Premium. A claim is approved when your email address is on your own website's domain and that website still names your business, or after we check it against the details your business publishes.
Premium
Premium is £12 a month plus VAT. You can cancel renewal at any time and your subscription will not renew any further. It includes your website as a clickable link on your listing, your hourly rates and fixed prices, up to 24 photos, availability and same-day flags, a note above your enquiry form, the Premium (paid plan) badge. Enquiries by email from your listing come with Premium. Premium listings appear towards the top of your town's lists, town pages and service pages. When several businesses in a town have Premium, they take turns at the top. Premium covers one listing. If you run two listings, for example two bases, each needs its own Premium for the paid tools to show on it.
The Owner verified and Insurance seen badges
The Owner verified and Insurance seen badges are not part of Premium, and paying for Premium does not add them. A badge already on a listing stays until it runs out (a year after the check that earned it, or the certificate's expiry date if sooner), while Premium is paid, and then comes off. Neither covered the standard of your work.
Buying as a business
Premium is sold to man and van and removal businesses for use in the business, and you confirm that, and that you accept the terms, with a tick box before you pay. Because you buy for your business, the 14-day cancellation right that consumers have does not apply; you can still cancel at any time as set out below.
Price and VAT
Premium is the only paid plan, at £12 a month plus VAT. You can cancel renewal at any time and your subscription will not renew any further. VAT at the standard rate (20%) is charged on every payment, so each monthly payment is £14.40 including VAT. Each receipt from Stripe shows the VAT. A price change is emailed to you at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before it does.
Payment and automatic renewal
Stripe takes payment in advance, with VAT added to each payment. Premium renews automatically every month until you cancel.
Cancelling and refunds
Any time, from Manage billing in your dashboard. It takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and the plan is not renewed after it. There are no refunds for part of a period except where the law requires one.
When Premium ends
The badges come off at the end of the paid period. Your website shows as plain text again, and your price list, photos, enquiry form note and availability stop showing at once, are kept for 90 days in case you come back, and are then deleted. Enquiries by email stop too, because they come with Premium; ones already received are deleted 12 months after they arrived. Your listing stays listed, no longer towards the top of your town's lists.
What you add to your profile
Your price list must be the prices you actually charge. Photos must be your own pictures of your own vans and kit: no stock images and no other businesses' vehicles. An insurance certificate you send must be your own and current. We may remove anything that breaks these rules, and we will tell you when we do.
Enquiries and customers' details
An enquiry carries a customer's contact details so you can reply. Use them to answer that enquiry and to do the job, and for nothing else. We do not book jobs or take payment between customers and firms.
We accept no liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for any loss arising from the site, the listings, enquiries, Premium or any firm's services, whether the loss is direct or indirect, and including loss of profit, business or goodwill. We do not promise any number of views, calls or enquiries, or that the site will always be available. The Insurance seen badge records what a certificate showed on the day it was seen; it is not cover we provide or guarantee. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Ending an account
We may close an account that misuses customers' details or misrepresents the business, refunding any unused paid period. You can ask us to delete your account through the contact form: cancel Premium first, and we then delete the account, its settings, photos and claim, and the listing goes back to unclaimed.
Complaints
Tell us through the contact form or by post. We reply within 14 days.
Changes and the law
A change to these terms is emailed to paying firms at least 30 days before it applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute about them. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also use your local courts.
