DU Move

About DU Move

DU Move is a Durham business that stores, returns and moves belongings for students at Durham University, and for landlords. It started in 2020 as an end of tenancy moving service for the Durham community. Before the lockdown measures were fully in place, it had already packaged, removed and stored belongings from dozens of tenant bedrooms.

The services are DU Storage, DU Postage, Flat Mover and DU Clean. With DU Storage, customers order the number of boxes they need, and the team drops off boxes, collects them once packed, stores them and returns them. The business uses strong, double walled boxes. A customer's own suitcase or bag can also be packed and stored, and specialist items such as a guitar, keyboard, desk, chair, golf clubs or a TV can be stored too. Larger items that need more than one person are arranged by phone.

Each item type has a single price that covers pick up, collection, storage and redelivery. Delivery is offered up to 25 miles away, and a service is listed for customers based at the Stockton on Tees campus. Scheduled return dates fall in late September and early October. DU Move says it helps students, landlords and residents with the end of tenancy move.
