About Stephens Removals
Stephens Removals is a family removals and storage business in Luton with a history of over fifty years. Peter and Marjorie Edwards started it, naming it after their eldest son Stephen. Their sons Stephen and Philip, their daughter Jane and later the third generation, Danielle and Russell, took on running the company.
The teams specialise in house moves, office relocations and secure storage across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Skills named include dismantling and reassembling furniture, export packing and furniture protection. By 1965 the company had three vehicles and a furniture warehouse, and in 1986 it purchased the entire Wingate Road site. Contracts have included deliveries for the Special Services Group, work for the BBC Antiques Roadshow and a trip for Luton Hoo.
In 1998 Stephens was awarded the Whitbread Supplier of the Year medal. The company has grown by buying other removal firms, including A W Removals, Rooks Removals, Vousdens and Bramwells Removals. It has a franchise arrangement with the Bishop's Move Group, which it describes as the largest privately owned moving business in the country, and which gives access to experience in overseas moving. The business has a vehicle in a 60th Anniversary livery.
