About Foster & Sons Removals
Foster & Sons Removals is a fifth generation family removals business in Belfast. It began in the late 1800s, when Samuel Foster helped people move house in and around Belfast with a horse and cart. The first truck went on the road in 1921.
Samuel Foster was succeeded by his son Robert in the 1930s and 1940s, and Robert passed the business to his son Maurice in the 1970s. Maurice moved the business to East Belfast and then to Holywood. His son Paul took over in 2007, and grew the business through a recession with the help of business consultants. Paul's wife Meabh became a director in 2018. Paul's mother Barbara answers the phones in the office, 50 years after she started helping her husband Maurice. Paul's oldest son Joshua spends school holidays on the trucks learning the trade, sometimes alongside his uncle Scott, who also works part time for the family business.
The business still runs as a family operation from Belfast, and moves homes and businesses in and around the city. Removals are carried out on trucks, and the family has handled house moves for more than a century.
Additional services include a packing and unpacking service, with full house pack and fragile pack options, packing materials for sale and plastic crates for hire. Dismantling and rebuilding of furniture is offered, along with a moving day cleaning service.
