Man and van
IKEA delivery and store collections
IKEA charges £25 to £40 to deliver a heavy order or any box over 25 kg, and £29 for delivery booked in store (IKEA UK, October 2026). A man and van makes sense when you want it home today, when items come from more than one shop, or when you need them carried upstairs. Assembly is a separate job.
What it costs and what it covers
Typical price. One Midlands man and van lists IKEA runs from £25 for small items to £100 for a full van within 15 miles of the store (its own price list, checked October 2026). See the furniture delivery cost guide.
Typical jobs
- Collecting the flat-pack boxes for a wardrobe set from an IKEA store the afternoon they were bought
- Picking up a click and collect bed frame and mattress and carrying them to a second floor flat
- Making one run to IKEA, a builders' merchant and a carpet shop for a single room's refit
- Collecting a sofa from a retail park store when the store's next delivery slot is a week away
- Taking long worktop and shelving boxes that will not fit in a hatchback
What is involved
IKEA's delivery page, checked in October 2026, prices parcel orders at £5 up to 15 kg and £10 from 15 to 75 kg. Heavier or fragile orders, or any single box over 25 kg, go by truck at £25 up to 150 kg and £40 up to 1,000 kg, with express £5 more and a 4-hour slot at £35 or £50. Delivery booked in store costs £29, and same-day delivery through TaskRabbit costs £39, or £49 for a chosen time. For one order to one address with time to wait, IKEA's own delivery is usually the cheaper choice.
A man and van fits other cases. It can bring things home from the store the same day, collect a click and collect order that will not fit in your car, combine IKEA with other shops in one run, or carry boxes into the room you choose. Collection from an IKEA store is free; DPD pick-up costs £2 and lockers or Tesco pick-up £5, unless the order passes £60 or £100 (IKEA UK, October 2026). One Midlands firm lists IKEA collections within 15 miles of a store from £25 for small items, £35 medium, £45 large, £65 for several large items and £100 for a full van (checked October 2026).
Box length matters more than volume. Wardrobe, bed and worktop boxes can be long and heavy, and Compare the Man and Van's size guide gives a small van's load space as only about 1.2 by 1.5 metres, against 2.4 metres long in a medium van and 4.0 metres in a large van or Luton (checked October 2026). Send the firm your order list with box sizes and weights, which are shown on each product page, so it brings a van long enough.
Assembly is an extra. IKEA's own service, run by TaskRabbit, starts at £33, is priced by the products you choose and excludes electrical work and anything connected to water (IKEA UK, October 2026). MyJobQuote puts flat-pack assembly by a handyman at £20 to £60 an hour (September 2026). Some man and van firms assemble as well as deliver, so ask, and ask whether wall fixings for tall units are included.
Choosing a firm
Ask the firm how it will collect: from the store's collection point or warehouse desk, with your order number and confirmation, and if you need to be there in person. Check with IKEA how someone else can collect your click and collect order, then send the driver the confirmation and the name on the order. Agree what happens if the order is not ready in its slot, since waiting time may be charged.
Confirm the price covers carrying the boxes in and up to the right room, not just to the front door. If you want assembly, ask for it as a separate line in the quote with the items listed, so you can compare it with IKEA's own service.

Common questions
How much does IKEA delivery cost?
IKEA UK charges £5 for parcel orders up to 15 kg and £10 up to 75 kg. Heavy or fragile orders, or any box over 25 kg, cost £25 up to 150 kg and £40 up to 1,000 kg, with express and timed slots extra (checked October 2026).
Is a man and van cheaper than IKEA delivery?
Not usually for a single order to one address, where IKEA's £25 to £40 truck rate is usually the cheaper choice. A man and van can be better value when you want it the same day, have items from several shops, or need them carried to an upper floor. One Midlands firm lists IKEA runs from £25 to £100 within 15 miles of a store.
Can someone else collect my IKEA click and collect order?
Ask IKEA before the day, since what the store needs to see can vary by order. Give the driver the order confirmation and the name it is under, and keep your phone on in case the store or driver calls.
Does IKEA charge for click and collect?
Collection from an IKEA store is free. DPD pick-up costs £2 unless the order is over £60, and Tesco pick-up points and lockers cost £5 unless it is over £100 (IKEA UK, checked October 2026).
